Temple in Koyasu
where
Kobo Daishi Kukai was born

Daishi was born here in Zentsuji,
Zentsuji City, Kagawa Prefecture,
in the year 774 (5th year of Houki).

Daishi, who continued to seek
the protection of the nation,
the happiness of all people,
and the true enlightenment,
thought that Buddhism was necessary
to help those in need, and became a monk.
He traveled to Tang as an envoy
to the Tang Dynasty
and was taught
the secrets of esoteric Buddhism
by Keika Kasho, who was also a state teacher.

We, Zentsuji Kanchi-in, are a temple of
“Koyasu Kannon”
in the place
where such a master grew up.
I keep praying for the happiness of
my family
while thinking about Daishi
when I was young, who ran around here.

That you are the hero of the world.

Teachings of Esoteric Buddhism
